I’ve finally managed to write down all the steps needed to setup a Debian Etch system to boot over iSCSI without an iSCSI HBA.
These are the needed elements:
a debian Etch system, of course
open-iscsi
an iSCSI target (I’ve used iSCSI Enterprise Target for Linux)
gPXE

Ho scoperto l’esistenza dell’eseguibile “iscsistart” che non è incluso nel pacchetto debian di open-iscsi, sinceramente non saprei perché.
In sintesi “iscsistart” porta in userspace buona parte degli elementi kernelspace necessari a montare un device su iscsi, e non richiede che iscsid sia attivo, quindi le patch che ho fatto la settimana scorsa le posso buttare nel [...]
